The state Public Defender's Office was burglarized sometime before dawn Monday.

The office, 511 E. Robinson St., is one of two in the building to be hit by burglars who reportedly ransacked the offices. The other was a doctor's office.

As of midday Monday, the attorneys were still sorting out what might have been taken and had not filed statements with the Carson Sheriff's Department. Sgt. Mike Better said it may be another in a series of computer thefts that have been committed against area businesses and government offices.

A business on Division Street was also hit Sunday night and computer equipment stolen. The Brewery Arts Center was the victim of a computer burglary a week ago.
