Now here's a scoop! In appreciation to folks in the community for their support over the past three years, the staff and management of Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation are putting on a golf party at Eagle Valley Golf Course on June 4.
Corporation board member Gerri Murphy filled me in on the details. This event will be a four-person scramble, 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. In what promises to be a fun-filled day, participants will receive green fees, golf carts, range balls and awards - all at no cost.
The field will accommodate 144 players and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. So when entry forms become available on May 1at Eagle Valley pro shop, you best hustle.
So circle May 1 on your calendar as a reminder to get your entry form. Murphy is also the tournament chairman for this event; you may reach her at 882-2828 if you need additional information.
Also in conjunction with this tournament, the Boys and Girls Club will hold their own fund-raiser on the course to aid in their efforts on behalf of our youth.
By the way, the Eagle Valley clubhouse got a facelift: new carpeting, paneling, paint, new everything ... looks swell!
- All the local clubs are getting into full swing now, so be sure to watch the weekly results.
One last item: There is a new senior men's club - the Carson City Seniors - who began playing every other week beginning on Tuesday at Eagle Valley, and perhaps occasionally at other courses. They currently have 35 active members and anyone interested in membership may call Preston D'Artez at 885-0317 or Jerry Buzick at 882-0101.
