Sheriff's deputies following up on a threat report Friday arrested a Carson City man for investigation of alleged felony drug violations.

A caller from the 600 block of Hot Springs Road reported at 7:40 p.m. that a man she knew had threatened her with a knife. Deputies went to a reputed suspect's home in the 2300 block of North Carson Street, where the man invited them into his apartment, according to the arrest report.

A deputy conducting an officer safety search for weapons or illegal drugs saw an open bag of sunflower seeds, inside of which were visible plastic bundles of what appeared to be methamphetamine, according to the report.

Also found in the apartment, according to the report, were a glass smoking pipe and plastic wrap like the suspected drug was packaged in. The apartment was also equipped with a police scanner and a closed circuit surveillance-type television connected by cable to an outside camera aimed at the apartment parking lot, the report said.

Occupant Jose Arture Barajas, 21, of Carson City, was arrested for investigation of felony maintaining a place to sell, use or give away a controlled substance; felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on $20,000 bail.

The arrest report did not mention whether a knife or any other weapons were found during the search.
