University seeks WWII nurses for panel

The Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking World War II nurses who served in the Pacific or European theaters to discuss their experiences on a panel for the Great Basin Book Festival this fall.

Elizabeth Norman, author of "We Band of Angels: The Untold Story of American Nurses Trapped on Bataan By the Japanese," will be a featured speaker at the festival which will focus on the contributions and sacrifices of the World War II generation.

The panel is scheduled to gather Sept. 29. No site has been set.

The Orvis School of Nursing will host a reception and a film festival featuring nurses in cinema.

The Great Gasin Book Festival, sponsored by the Nevada Humanities Committee, begins Sept. 29. It concludes Sept. 30 with booths and performances in Wingfield Park in downtown Reno.
