RENO - The University of Nevada's Small Business Development Center will be holding hands-on computer workshops throughout the year 2000 to help small businesses and individuals with their computer needs.
Among the workshops offered are a basic introduction to Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, getting familiar with the Internet, FrontPage and Designing a Web Page. Each participant will receive five hours of hands-on computer instruction. Classes run from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break, at the Business Building on the UNR campus in Room 312.
"Whether you are just stating out or need additional help with your applications, these workshops offer something for everyone, said Kathy Carrico, state training director for the Nevada Small Business Development Center.

-- Windows - The Basics, Jan. 28;
-- Word - The Basics, Feb. 4;
-- Excel - The Basics, Feb. 11;
-- Designing a Web page, Feb. 18;
-- Word-Intermediate, March 3;
-- Excel-Intermediate, March 10;
-- Access I, March 17;
-- Access II, March 31;
-- Internet and E-Mail - The Basics, April 14;
-- FrontPage - The Basics, April 28;
-- PowerPoint - The Basics, May 5.
The instructor for the workshops is Jean A. Gage, a computer consultant in the Reno area since 1984 with teaching experience. Cost for the workshops is $70 per session; three or more classes are $60 each. Preregistration is required and payments must be received prior to the class date.
