The Sierra District of the California State Park System is offering a chance to follow part of the historic Sierra Nevada wagon crossing route, first used over 150 years ago.
That will take place on Sunday at Donner Memorial State Park.
That state park is on the east side of Donner Lake, two miles west of Truckee, Calif.
Visit the summit of Mount Stephens and enjoy the panorama and the view of Donner Lake, far below.
The degree of difficulty is rated as "easy."
The duration of the trip is 1.5 hours.
Meet at 10 a.m. at the Donner Memorial State Park parking area to carpool to the summit.
Dress in warm, layered clothing for variable weather conditions and wear sturdy hiking boots. The trip may be canceled if the snow is too deep.
There is no charge for the hike.
