RENO - Washoe Health Systems of Reno plans to buy a 50 percent share in Gardnerville's Carson Valley Medical Center sometime in the next two months.

The center is owned by Barton Memorial Hospital of South Lake Tahoe.

Barton and Washoe Health officials said discussions will continue next month on whether to bring Carson-Tahoe Hospital into the affiliation.

''Carson-Tahoe Hospital is still invited to the relationship,'' said Robert Burn, who is retiring in January as president and chief executive officer of Washoe Health Systems.

The purchase of a half-interest in Carson Valley Medical Center will be completed in 30 to 60 days, Burn said.
