A free, 3-hour snowshoe trek is being offered at Sugar Pine Point State Park on Saturday. It will be led by park rangers with the California State Park System.

The trek will begin at the park which is located 10 miles south of Tahoe City, Calif. It is on S.R. 89 on the west side of Lake Tahoe.

This is for snowshoers only. You must bring your own snowshoes.

The degree of difficulty is rated as "easy." It is a one-mile roundtrip over level terrain.

Plan to follow the tracks of some active winter animals on an enjoyable day of discovery.

Anyone interested in the clinic is requested to meet at the Sugar Pine Point ski trail parking lot near the campground kiosk at 10 a.m.

Bring your own snowshoes, ski poles to assist with balance, snow boots and binoculars. You should also bring snacks, drinks and wear layered clothing for variable weather conditions.
