WNCC offers Internet classes this spring

Students wishing to take Western Nevada Community College spring semester classes at home over the Internet now have 13 courses to choose from.

Online classes allow students who may be restricted to a particular location or who cannot attend class at a particular time to participate in a college-learning experience from any computer that has access to the Internet.

WNCC Internet courses offered this semester include accounting, economics, geography, genealogy, nutrition, math, music appreciation and computer science. Classes are facilitated from all three WNCC campuses.

The actual mechanics vary, but generally students attend class by logging onto the Internet, reading and completing course assignments and returning the completed assignments by e-mail for evaluation.

Online education is the fastest growing segment of post-secondary education. Most experts agree that as high-speed Internet connections become widely available even more students can be expected to take advantage of the convenience offered by online classes.
