After a successful season opener last Saturday, the University of Nevada will host the Wolf Pack Invitational today in Reno.
Action begins with the field events at 8:30 a.m. followed by running events at noon at the Reno Livestock Events Center's Bill Cosby Track Facility. Among the competing teams will be Air Force, Fresno State, UCLA, UNLV, Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Stanislaus.
Three Nevada athletes logged NCAA qualifying marks and set school records last Saturday during the Silver State Invitational at the Reno Livestock Events Center. Junior Becky Krupa improved her own school long jump record with a leap of 18 feet, 11 inches, sophomore Erin Kelly improved her own triple jump record with a leap of 40-4, and sophomore Jennifer Ashcroft shattered her own pole vault record by nearly six inches with a 12-0 clearance. All three marks met the provisional qualifying standards for the NCAA Championships.
Two Carson City athletes also had success at the Silver State Invitational: Alissa Anderson placed second in the women's high jump with a 5-7 effort, and Jody Carlsen was third in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10 minutes, 25.33 seconds.
