The Carson boys soccer team broke a three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over Hug on Saturday.
Carson (11-3, 8-3) stayed a game behind first place South Tahoe in the Sierra League race. The Senators will host Douglas on Wednesday.
"It was definitely a positive game for us," Carson coach Jim Nealis said. "We hope to keep heading in the right direction. Hopefully it's a boost."
Landon Roser and Jeff Rogers each had a goal and an assist for Carson. Rogers scored on an assist from Christian Losche, Jesus Cid scored on an assist from Roser, Rogers assisted on a goal by Roser and Carlos Hernandez scored on an assist from Eric Libby.
Sean Carter and Tony Nunez combined at goalie for the win. Carter played the first half and Nunez played the second half. Hug's goal came in the second half on a direct kick.
"It's going to be a real tough game," said Nealis about Wednesday. "We know that Douglas has got to win to make it to zone. We know they're going to throw everything at us."

The Carson girls soccer team improved to 12-0-1 as Carolina Hernandez scored three goals and Ali Davis was also among the top scorers for the Senators.

CARSON 7, HUG 0
Ernesto scored three goals on assists from Drew Anderson, Robbie Liebherr and Daniel Burger as the Carson junior varsity boys soccer team (11-2) rolled to a win.
Jeremy Benamati scored, Brandon Waterman scored on an assist from Julio DeLeon, Jeremiah Schenzel scored and DeLeon scored on assist from Eddie Lunaza for Carson. Defender John Ackerly made a save for Carson on Hug's only shot.
