The word amazing kept coming up when Carson High coach Jim Nealis described the play of Saturday's showdown between undefeated Sierra League boys soccer rivals at South Tahoe.

Carson defeated South Tahoe 3-1 to improve to 6-0 and take over sole possession of first-place in the league. The Senators have now beaten what figures to be their toughest three opponents in Northern Nevada in South Tahoe, Reno and Reed.

"But we're going to face them again," Nealis said. "We've got to see where we're going to take the season from here. I've got a great group of guys."

Christian Losche, John Shorrock and Kirkwood Harris all scored for the Senators.

"It was an amazing game," Nealis said. "We had three amazing goals. Across the board, people really picked it up."

Carson took a 1-0 lead when Losche placed a shot from 35-40 yards into the upper right corner of the net. "It was picture perfect," Nealis said.

South Tahoe came back to tie the score 1-1 at halftime. The Senators took a 2-1 lead when Nealis said Shorrock beat four defenders on his way to scoring. "He beat everyone," Nealis said.

The Senators added the insurance goal when Harris scored on a header off of a perfect corner kick by Landon Roser.

Losche was moved to midfield where he was a standout, Nealis said. Nealis also praised the play of goalie Sean Carter.
