With one tournament left, the Carson girls golf team has solidified its position to qualify for the Northern 4A zone tournament.

Carson placed sixth in the most recent tournament on Tuesday in South Tahoe to remain seventh in the overall standings. Carson leads McQueen by two points and Douglas by three points.

"Without a total collapse, I think we're going to qualify for zone," Carson coach Paul Croghan said.

The final regular season tournament will be on Monday. Galena won at South Tahoe with a 467 and Galena's Lux Gill won the individual title with an 81. Carson places sixth with a 534, 10 strokes ahead of seventh place McQueen (544).

Following Galena were Fallon (498), South Tahoe (499), Douglas (525) and Wooster (531).

Individuall, Carson fared well even though Ciarra Christian wasn't at her best as she shot a 107.

"She was disappointed," Croghan said. "She had kind of a bad day."

Lindsay Farnworth led Carson with a 99 while Ashley Faber had a 103, Elizabeth Rankl had a 109 and Gabrielle Gallegos fired a 116. Also competing for Carson was Megan Good.
