Members of the Dayton High School chapter of Students Against Drunk Driving will conduct a child-safety seat inspection Saturday at Smith's Food and Drug in Dayton.
SADD president Desirae Trube invited parents to bring their child car seats for inspection from 1 to 3:30 p.m. If a seat is faulty or dangerous, free replacements will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
"We're not only against drunk driving, we are also for the safety of children. We want everybody to be safe out there," Trube said.
Members of SADD will undergo 9-1/2 hours of training to inspect the seats.
"Even if you miss only five minutes, you can't do the training," she said. "We have to be able to know everything about the car seats."
Two adults and 15 students will inspect the seats.
The free car seats will be provided by Richard Yeoman whose daughter Kim is a junior at Dayton High and a member of SADD.
"If you don't have a car seat and have a child, come in talk to us. We might be able to give you one," Trube said.
