Sen. Maurice Washington, R-Sparks, has announced he will seek a third term in the Legislature.
Washington's restructured District 2 now represents part of Washoe, Lyon and Storey counties.
He said he has campaigned for common sense government.
"My eight years experience as a state senator and a businessman give me the record of cooperation, integrity and leadership that's needed to make the tough decisions facing our state," he said.
He cited his work on issues including truth in sentencing, welfare reform and education reform.
And he pointed out that he has not voted for any new taxes.
"People want common sense in their government. I want to provide it," he said.
Washington is pastor of Center of Hope Christian Fellowship in Sparks. His previous employment includes public relations and sales and as a journeyman electrician. He lives in Sparks with his wife Donna. He has three children and one grandchild.
