Carson's Lehmann to run in 100-mile race

Carson City podiatrist Sean Lehmann will run in the grand-daddy of long distance events.


After having completed nine marathons, Lehmann will compete in the Wasatch Front 100 Mile Endurance Run on Sep. 7 in Salt Lake City.


A native of the Salt Lake area, Lehmann has been a runner his entire life, completing his first marathon at the age of 10. He said he hopes that his previous marathons will help him complete the tough mental and physical challenge.


Lehmann, though, said he realizes that 100 miles is much longer than anything he's done. "To be honest, I'm just hoping to finish," he said.


Runners are allowed 36 hours to finish the race. Lehmann said he will try to finish in under 30 hours.


Lehmann did most of his undergraduate work at the University of Utah and received his bachelor's in medical studies. He was a member of Utah's cross country and track teams and earned the Presidents Award for academic excellence. After graduating from Des Moines University with a doctorate of podiatric medicine and master of health care administration. Lehmann completed his surgical residency at Lakewood Regional Medical Center near Long Beach, Calif.


An avid hiker and outdoorsman, Lehmann settled with his wife, Michelle, in Carson City for the surroundings and to start a practice. He volunteers as a reserve member of the Douglas County Search and Rescue. Lehmann spends most of his time with his practice in Carson City, but also sees patients in Fallon, Lovelock and Minden.
