BISHOP, CALIF. AREA: Gary Olson of the Bishop Creek Resorts (760-873-4484) reported:
North Lake and Intake No. 2: Fishing was reported good at both. Power Bait or nightcrawlers were doing great. Good reports from the creek leading into North Lake. Salmon eggs were the key.
South Lake: The two largest trout were a 6-pound, 12 ounce rainbow on a Panther Martin lure with 2-pound test line and a 6-pound, 11-ounce rainbow using a red/gold Thomas Buoyant lure. The fishing has been spotty with most anglers reporting good results but a few coming back with only a few fish. Nightcrawlers remain the top bait. Thomas Buoyant lures behind the island or trolling with a olive Woolly Bugger fly. Trolling with a set of flashers and a nightcrawler was awesome this week.
Bishop Creek: The water flow remains down with the flow from the lakes at a minimum. This combined with F&G stocking has made for good fishing. Salmon eggs have remained popular with nightcrawlers working well. Fly fishing at Weir Pond was great with black ants and small Midges. Mosquitoes were doing well on the creek.
