A 3 p.m. graveside service is planned Wednesday at Lone Mountain Cemetery for Richard Moon Chong, 79, a Carson City resident since 1971, who died Nov. 28, 2002.
He was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Canton, China, to Hin Shune Chong and Lui Shee Chong.
He came to the United States at the age of 14 with his father and two brothers.
He married Sara Snow Chong. He lived in Reno from 1962 until 1971, when he moved to Carson City. He was a chef at the Mapes Hotel in Reno from 1962 to 1968.
He co-owned and operated Dug's West Indies Restaurant and Bar in Carson City from 1968 until 1977.
He enjoyed watching football on TV and working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Sara; sons Stephen Chong of Alameda, Calif., and Steve Stauffer of Carson City; daughter, Cathy White of Stagecoach; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
