Memorial services for Mildred Jean Bitsko a three-year resident of Carson City will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Passionist Retreat Center in Citrus Heights, Calif.
Mrs. Bitsko died Dec. 12, 2002 in Carson City. She was born Dec. 9, 1908 in New York City to Francesco and Maria Agnes Gianatosio Ferrara. She was 94.
Mrs. Bitsko enjoyed music, travel and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Bitsko in 1979 and a son La Verne W. Faville in 1950. She was one of 12 children, nine of whom preceded her in death.
Prior to moving to Carson City she lived in Citrus Heights for 45 years.
Mrs. Bitsko was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Citrus Heights, a member of the Women's Catholic Guild, she sang in the church choir and was voted Catholic Woman of the Year in Sacramento in 1997.
Among her survivors are her sister Edith Ferrara of Washington, D.C. a brother Fred Ferrara of Los Angeles; two granddaughters Linda Guernsey and Susan Combs both of Carson City; and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial will be beside her husband at St. John the Baptist Greek Catholic Cemetery in Summit Hill, Penn.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is in charge of arrangements.
