John Frink, project coordinator for the Nevada State Railroad Museum, announced the winners of this year's Santa Train coloring contest.

There were three winners, one from each age group, who colored in the image of Santa on a train which was published in the Nevada Appeal.

The winners are: In the 10-12 age group, Taylor Radtke who won a Nevada State Railroad Museum sweatshirt; in the 7-9 age group, Christin Stein who won a battery-operated train toy; in the 4-6 age group, Rebekah Brady who won a Thomas the Tank Engine toy. All the children live in Carson City.

"We sell a lot of that Thomas the Tank Engine stuff," Frink said.

He said the Santa Train has been an annual event at the museum for the last 15 years.

"It's a big deal for us," he said of the free event. "It's like our thank you to Carson City for all of their support throughout the year."

The event also marks the end of the train operating season at the museum.

Although the museum is still open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. through winter, steam trains will not run again until May 17th.
