The Nevada Department of Education is seeking applications for the 2002 National Youth Science Camp scholarships.
Two full scholarships are available in Nevada for the four-week camp. The awards cover the full cost of the experience during which participants will exchange ideas with scientists and other professionals. The curriculum ranges from lectures to hands-on research projects presented by scientists from across the nation.
There will be three overnight expeditions into the Monongahela National Forest, in eastern West Virginia, and a visit to Washington, D.C., this year.
Delegates will begin the camp in Charleston, W. Va., June 27 and finish July 22.
The program is looking for students who demonstrate academic achievement in science and who show potential for "thoughtful scientific leadership."
High school seniors interested can get an application packet from Richard N. Vineyard at (775) 687-9195 or through the Internet at rvineyar@nsn.k12.nv.us
