Before moving to Carson City, he lived in the San Fernando Valley in California.
Mr. Thoreson was employed by Nevada Bell as a telephone splicer. He was a past member of the Elks Club in Carson City. He was an avid sportsman, excellent fisherman and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He loved to travel, and traveled all 50 states. He did volunteer work at FISH.
He was preceded in death by son Richard in 1986.
Among his survivors are his wife of 45 years Betty of Carson City; son Don of Reno; daughter Julie of Boise, Idaho; brothers Warren and Ron, both of Palm Desert, Calif.; sister Joan of Mount Vernon, Wash., and grandchildren Marvin, Shanelle and Keely Thoreson, all of Reno.
