Obituary: Gary Clifton Best

Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Gary Clifton Best of Carson City who died June 7, 2002, at a Reno hospital. Mr. Best was 58.

Mr. Best had been a Carson City resident since 1976 and was the owner of B&B Plumbing and Heating.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he spent his early life and learned the plumbing business from his father. He earned plumbing and contractors licenses in Wyoming, Oklahoma and Nevada.

He graduated from Central State University in Oklahoma with a bachelor's of arts degree in graphics. He later worked toward a degree in education to fulfill a desire to be a high school math teacher.

He was a licensed airplane pilot and loved to fly. After leaving Oklahoma, he moved to Powell, Wyo., where he was a member of the Elks Club.

In 1976, he moved to Carson City and worked with Al Bernhard at Al's Plumbing. He eventually became a partner with Al and later purchased the business and changed the name to B&B Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the Nevada Board of Contractors and was recognized for his plumbing skills in the Nevada Contractors Magazine.

Mr. Best was an avid NASCAR fan and was known as a loving and giving person who donated his time and talent to others.

Mr. Best is survived by his wife Edie of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Don Dulworth of Velma, Okla., stepdaughter Leah Bellinghausen of Silver Springs, stepson Troy Bellinghausen of Hollywood, Calif., father and stepmother B.C. and Ruth Best of Davenport, Okla., mother Betty LeGate of Carson City, brother Loewen Best of Edmond, Okla., seven grandchildren and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Duncan, Okla.
