Obituary: Carolene R. Short

A memorial service for Carolene R. Short, 69, a Carson City resident for the past 14 years, will be at 10 a.m. today at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mrs. Short died June 8, 2002, at her home. She was born Dec. 23, 1932, in Grafton, N.D., to Henry and Hilda Anderson Schultz.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Santa Maria, Calif.

Mrs. Short worked in the journalism department at the University of North Dakota. She enjoyed playing the nickel slot machines, especially triple play. She was a wonderful cook and a loving grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Among her survivors are her husband Jim of Carson City; sons Steve Lerud of Orem, Utah, and Bart Lerud of Owensboro, Ky., and five grandchildren.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

Inurnment will be at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
