Carson Country athletes strong in Silver State Games

Many Carson Country athletes stood out over the weekend in track at the Silver State Games in Reno.


Those who stood out included Galena High's Barrett Young who tied for first place overall with Carson High's George Pincock in the 100 meters as both were timed in 10.5 seconds. Pincock also placed second overall in the 800 in 2:15.3.


Galena High's Nate Meckley was the overall winner in the high jump with a leap of six feet, 6 1/2 inches. Dayton High's Shaun Merril placed second overall in the pole vault with a leap of 13-0.


Carson High's Shaylyn Tom placed second overall in the shot put (32-2) and the discus (122-9).
