A celebration of life for Edward Joseph Caton, 83, a Washoe Valley resident for the past 30 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles Hall, 1380 E. Fifth St., Carson City.
Mr. Caton died March 11, 2002, at his home. He was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Hayward, Calif., to Joseph and Francisca Caton.
Before moving to Washoe Valley, he lived in Lovelock, moving from Danville, Calif.
Mr. Caton was a retired brand inspector for the Nevada State Department of Agriculture as well as a retired peace officer, having worked in Lovelock, Hayward and Danville.
He belonged to the Nevada Reined Cow and Cutting Horse Association, Western Nevada Cutting Horse Association, Reno Rodeo Association and Nevada State Horseman's Association.
He was an avid reined cow horse enthusiast and competed in many of the major cow horse shows in the western United States.
He was preceded in death by his wife Adrienne and daughter Francis Marie Caton.
Among his survivors are his daughter Adrienne Anne Caton of Washoe Valley; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and countless friends.
