Obituary for Alayne Renee Casteel

A funeral Mass for Alayne Renee Casteel, 34, a lifetime Minden resident, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gall Catholic Church.

Ms. Casteel died March 26, 2002, at her home. She was born Feb. 23, 1968, in Reno, to Gary B. and Claudia Ann Casteel.

She graduated from Douglas High School in 1986, graduated cum laude from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1991 with a bachelor's degree and received a master's degree in speech communication, also from UNR.

Ms. Casteel served as a lecturer at the University of Nevada for six years. She established her own company Communications Training Systems and became an internationally known trainer and consultant for business and professional organizations, especially trial lawyers, judges and court systems managers.

Her clients included the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute for Trial Advocacy, National Judicial Institute of Canada, National Judicial College and the Federal Judicial Center and bench and bar associations in 20 states and five Canadian provinces. In 1995, her training for the Washington State Bar was selected as the outstanding continuing legal education program in America.

She was twice selected as Douglas County's and Nevada's high school rodeo queen and was active in cutting horse competitions throughout the west. Through her programs at the National Judicial College in Reno and Dalhousie Law School in Nova Scotia, she trained 300 judges from 25 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. More than 4,000 professionals in the United States have attended her training programs.

Among her survivors are her mother and father of Gardnerville; children triplets Adyson, Avery and Cash Casteel, all of Gardnerville; brother Gary Jr. of Las Vegas; grandfathers Harold Casteel of Incline Village and Mac Wilson of Lakeport, Calif., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private graveside will be held at Genoa Cemetery.
