Robert J. "Bob" Blashaw, 72, a Santa Maria, Calif., resident for the past four years, died March 16, 2002, at a Santa Maria hospital. He was born May 12, 1929, in Jamestown, N.Y.
Before moving to Santa Maria, he lived in Dayton for 10 years.
Mr. Blashaw was a retired insurance salesman who worked with Metropolitan Life and then State Farm Insurance. He worked for Bibee Insurance in Carson City.
An avid square dance caller during the 1980s, he called square dancing several years for Pismo's 'N Taws. He and his wife formed the Dayton Silver Squares Square Dance Club in Dayton.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby, on May 24, 2001.
Among his survivors are his wife of 52 years, Joanne of Santa Maria; children Michael Blashaw and wife, Rosalie of Grover Beach, Calif., Glenn Blashaw and wife, Patty of Hanford, Calif., Kathy Goularte and husband Mark of Nipomo, Calif., Patricia Tilley and husband, Danny of Wilder, Idaho and Laurie Cordova of Homedale, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Larry; sister Frances Jose of Gridley, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Nipomo.

Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
