Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 388 is hosting its ninth annual Reflections Banquet at the Carson Nugget on Saturday, the money going to finance Nevada's Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
A number of local officials, including Carson City Parks Department officials Steve Kastens and Vern Krahn, will be honored. Mayor Ray Masayko is the keynote speaker and the evening includes a silent auction. Prison inmates, all Vietnam-era veterans, have created an afghan with an American flag decor for the event.
"Ours will be the state memorial for those Nevadans killed in action," said chapter president Jim Weller. "We receive support from all over the state."
The social hour starts at 6 p.m. and a sit-down dinner, featuring salmon and filet mignon, starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person and those who would like to make reservations should call before 1 p.m. today. Call Jim Weller at 884-1736.
Anyone interested in making a donation for the memorial can mail it to Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 388, P.O. Box 21614, Carson City NV 89702. Make checks payable to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 388.
