An early morning fire heavily damaged a Hot Springs Road apartment, but no one was hurt, a Carson City Fire Department official said.
The fire was reported about 6 a.m. in the double attic in a two-story eight-plex unit at the Carson Catalina Apartments, 710 Hot Springs Road, said Dan Shirey, fire department operations chief.
"It was a semi-complicated fire because firefighters were searching in a double attic," Shirey said. "It was labor intensive."
It took 20 firefighters, including one engine company from the Nevada Division of Forestry, more than an hour to find the blaze and put it out.
The exact cause of the fire and the dollar amount of damage caused were being determined Friday, Shirey said.
