A Carson City woman and her family said they were terrorized at knifepoint Monday afternoon near Little Lane after they apparently cut off another driver while heading east on Roop Street.

The Carson City woman changed lanes at Fairview and Roop streets at 11:45 a.m. A man driving a dark gray passenger car in the next lane became enraged and began an aggressive pursuit, trying to ram her car several times.

At one point, the woman and her two passengers pulled over. The man brandished a knife, she said. When she asked what he was planning to do to them, he said he would stab them, she said.

The woman immediately drove to the Carson City Sheriff's Department and filed a report.

Sheriff's Deputy B. Rosario said officers found the address registered to the man's car, but no one was home. The man's knife appeared to be the type used at his work, and officers thought he might have been going to his job, Rosario said.

If he is found, officers planned to charge the man with assault with a deadly weapon and neglecting to drive with due care, Rosario said.

Sheriff's department spokesmen did not return phone calls about the incident Tuesday, and no one was available to update any details. It is unknown whether the sheriff's department is continuing to investigate the incident.

The sheriff's day watch commander reported no arrests had been made in the case, but because of administrative issues and the lack of a report, public information about the case was not available.
