The Carson Senators Mitey Mites Pop Warner football team improved its record to 5-1 by beating a shorthanded Truckee team 25-0.
It was the second shutout of the season for the Senators. Austin Pacheco, Austin Brown and Steven Rivera all had sacks for Carson. Other leaders on defense were Austin Buyak, Levi Carter, Ian Friesall, Josh Garcia, Andrew Gutierrez, Colin McCulloch, Corwin McIntosh, Anthony Peek, Kyle Richard, Dylan Sawyers and Sage Smith.
"The kids came out and played a heck of a game," coach Steve Sawyers said. "They knew it was their last home game and they wanted to make a statement."
The offense was led by Sawyers again as he scored two touchdowns. D.J. Parker scored the first touchdown and Willie McDonald scored his second touchdown of the season to finish the scoring. Quarterback Brandon Akers led the attack.
Akers, Ty Keefer, McDonald, Daniel Okimura, Parker and Sawyers all played well offensively. Opening the holes for them were Keegan Aiazzi, John Borges, David Kelly, Jacob Myers, Clinton Page, Zack Puzey, Cody Reno, Nolan Tuesdell and Michael Walters.
Some of the lineman were also given a chance to run the ball, including Aiazzi, Buyak, Myers, Reno and Walters. Carson was without starting guard Nick Garcia, who is expected to return this week.
The week before, the Senators won a hard fought 27-20 decision over the Reno Huskies. Carson will travel to Susanville to take on Lassen at noon Saturday.
