The Fernley High School boys soccer team picked up its first Northern 3A win of the season with a 3-1 triumph against Rite of Passage on Friday afternoon.
Fernley is now 1-2 in league. ROP dropped to 0-2, but showed signs of improvement from its season-opening loss to Yerington, according to coach Bert McKenrick.
"I was very impressed with my guys," he said. "They played much better, and the more we play, the stronger we're going to get. We're just a second-year team, but I think we're going to become more and more competitive in this league."
