A service for Evelyn L. Smith, 84, longtime Carson City resident, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Mrs. Smith died July 5, 2003, in Salem, Ore., after a long illness. She was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Madrone, Calif., to Mary and Raymond Costa.
She graduated from Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Calif., in 1936. While growing up there, she lived in Morgan House, now a historical landmark.
After high school, she moved to San Francisco, where she was a secretary for an import-export company and Pacific Gas and Electric Co. She enjoyed Carson City's climate and casinos.
She married Everett I. Hall in February 1945. He was killed in a plane crash in April 1951. She married Harmon A. Smith in 1961, and they divorced in 1967.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Lynnette.
Among her survivors are her daughter Judith; sons Mark and Tony; sons-in-law Charles Richardson and Charles Rauch; and sister, Adelaide (Ida) Link.
