Donald H. Mullis died Aug. 7, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital after a massive heart attack. He was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Port Angeles, Wash., to Frank and Belle Wallace Mullis.
He grew up in Friday Harbor, Wash., and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in chemistry.
He worked in Alaska and Seattle in the fishing industry for 33 years and spent 10 years as manager of Fishing Vessel Owners and Marine Ways in Seattle.
He loved to travel. He enjoyed woodworking and jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of the Masonic Temple, Shrine, Scottish Rite and president of the Tuxedo Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Van Slyke on Feb. 28, 1995.
Among his survivors are his daughter and son-in-law Risa and R.J. Hearn of Minden; daughter Ina Mullis of Boston and Friday Harbor; granddaughter, Katie Mullis Lyon of Los Angeles; sister, Ina Gustin of Seattle; brother Wally Mullis of Friday Harbor; sister, Flossie McRae of Gig Harbor, Wash.; and special friends Marianne Matthews and Houston Morrison.
No service is scheduled.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. His ashes will be placed next to his wife's at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
