Douglas County sheriff's officers are seeking help finding the department's lost dog.
According to Sgt. Tom Mezzetta, the dog is a 2 1/2-year-old black female Labrador retriever.
The dog ran off when it and a Douglas County handler were in the Red Lakes area of Alpine County, Calif., at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The dog is friendly, but was not wearing a collar when it disappeared.
Anyone with information about the dog's location is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 782-9911.
