A celebration of life for Wayne A. Evenson, 51, a Dayton and lifetime Nevada resident, will be held from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Dayton Community Center on Pike Street, downtown Dayton.
Mr. Evenson died Dec. 6, 2003, at his home. Wayne was born Feb. 9, 1952, in Torrance, Calif., to Rose and Ernie Evenson. He moved to Nevada at 3 months old and has lived here ever since.
Mr. Evenson worked at JM Furniture for many years of his life and then owned and operated a business with his wife. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and he had built his own dune buggy, the Purple People Eater. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his pets.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years during Vietnam, attaining the rank of sergeant.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dick, who died in March 2003.
Among his survivors are his wife, Becky; children Martin, Andrew and Georgina; granddaughter, Sabrina; brothers and sisters-in-laws Gary and Shizuko of Oceanside, Calif., Phil and Carol of Stagecoach, Denny and Audrey of Phoenix and Curt and Teresa of Gardnerville; sister-in-law Nadina and numerous nieces and nephews.
Reno Memorial Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
