Obituary: Donald Franklin McKnight

A cryptside inurnment service for Carson City resident Donald Franklin McKnight, 62, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Masonic Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, 437 Stoker Ave., Reno.

Mr. McKnight died of cancer Feb. 23, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born May 14, 1940, in Reno at Washoe Medical Center. He is the adopted son of Judge William McKnight and Grace McKnight of Reno.

After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas as an aircraft mechanic. He was employed by Bently Nevada Corp. in Minden for 20 years as a machinist.

He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, golfing, archery and anything to do with being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Daniel.

Among his survivors are his wife of 35 years, Helen; children Brad and Tammy Saunders of Santa Rosa, Calif., Cara and Bryan Bibee of Carson City and Stacy and Don Harrison of Gardnerville; and grandchildren Thorne and Foster Saunders, Zachary, Ty and Whitney Bibee and Brandon and Alicia Harrison.
