Obituary for Earl L. Carmen

Earl L. Carmen, 88, a Carson City resident, died Jan. 4, 2003, in Carson City. He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Durango, Colo., to Ben and Nora Roberts Carmen.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in San Diego, Calif.

Mr. Carmen worked for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987 in San Diego. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Postal Workers. He loved playing tennis and enjoyed bowling.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Kingman, Ariz.

Among his survivors are his wife of 59 years, Mary of Carson City; nephew, Gene Lyon of Hesperia, Calif.; and nieces Margaret Green of Hesperia and Joanne Hoff of Colorado.

He will be buried in Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in San Diego.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
