Reward offered in jewelry heist

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of two men who stole about a reported $600,000 worth of jewelry Thursday afternoon.

The thieves allegedly fled with five bags of jewelry in a gold, four-door sedan.

The California salesman said he lost all of his wealth in the burglary but was confident that the criminals would be caught.

Sheriff Kenny Furlong said Friday that there is a chance the thieves knew what was being carried in the car.

"We are looking into the possibility someone might have known what was contained in the car based on video surveillance tapes of the area," he said.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males between 17 to 25 years old.
