A memorial service for Loraine Jean Forbes, 76, of Yerington will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Freitas-Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington.
Mrs. Forbes died May 31, 2003, at Just Like Home in Yerington. She was born Feb. 21, 1927, in Iroquois, Ill., to William and Beatrice Brady.
Her family moved to Yuma, Ariz., when she was 2 and later to Los Angeles.
She married Jim Forbes in 1948. They lived in Altadena, Calif., until 1971, when they moved to Duck Creek, Utah. They built and operated a small cafe until 1977, when her husband died.
She moved to Yerington in 1992 and then to Casa Grande, Ariz., for two years where she worked on her nephew's ranch. She then returned to Yerington.
Mrs. Forbes was a volunteer at the senior center in Yerington. She enjoyed cooking, canning, latch hook, raising German shepherds and supporting many animal and environmental groups.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers William, Robert and Donald; and sister, Bernice
Among her survivors are many nephews and nieces including Dan O'Rear, Terry O'Rear, Arthur O'Rear, Patrick O'Rear, Michael O'Rear, David Brady, Larry Brady, Patrick Brady, Jeannie Mitchell, Joan Norstedt and Sandra Clancy.
