Obituary: Vivian Terry Rodgers

A memorial service for Vivian Terry Rodgers, a Minden resident for the past 21 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.

Mrs. Rodgers died June 2, 2003, in Carson City. She was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Monticello, Ark., to Richard and Grace Terry.

She graduated from Dew County High School in 1940 and Drawn School of Business in 1942.

Before moving to Minden, she lived in Cleveland.

Mrs. Rodgers worked as a secretary during her early years of marriage. She was active in several philanthropic organizations, including the Junior Women's Club and Bookworks and was vice president and Woman of the Year. She was also Shaker Lady of the Year at Shaker Heights Country Club. She enjoyed gardening, mountain biking, motor homing, Dixieland jazz music and jazz gigs.

Among her survivors are her husband of 60 years, John; daughter, Linda Kozak, of Mars, Pa.; grandchildren Jeff Kozak, Ken Kozak, John Scott Rodgers and Jenifer Rodgers; sister, Betty Roberson, of El Dorado, Ark.; and brother, Jack Terry of Tyler, Texas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carson Valley United Methodist Church Memorial Garden Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association.
