Dayton baseball holds on vs. South Tahoe

The Dayton High baseball team built a 14-4 lead and held on for a 16-12 win over South Tahoe on Tuesday at home.


Dayton scored five runs in the first inning to take a 5-0 lead. After the Vikings closed to within 5-4 in the third, the Dust Devils erupted for nine runs to take a 14-4 lead in the bottom of the third. After South Tahoe closed to within 14-12, Dayton scored two runs in the sixth to take a 16-12 lead.


Adam Diament went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Justin Cross was 3-for-5 with a double and Matt Bowman went 2-for-3 with two doubles for Dayton.


Ryan Blaver was the winning pitcher, striking out five over 2 2/3 innings. Bowman picked up the save, allowing one unearned run over two innings while striking out three.
