The Carson Cardinals baseball team opened the Reno Knights Memorial Day Tournament with a 16-3 win over North Valleys.
Ryan Henry earned player of the game honors, pitching three perfect innings for the win. Henry struck out seven of the nine batters he faced. Jared Wulff finished up in relief.
Tony Teixeira went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, Cameron Leck doubled and had three RBI, Neil Holmes homered and scored four runs, Jeff Hurzel had a two-run single and Aaron Henry went 1-for-2 and scored three runs for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals will continue round robin play at 5 p.m. today at Reed. The Cardinals will finish up round robin play at 11:30 a.m. against the Winnemucca Blue Sox and at 2 p.m. against the Reno Knights on Saturday at Reno High. The tournament will continue through Monday.
