Champion Motor Speedway on Tuesday announced the Faster Pastor Charity Challenge originally set for June 14 at CMS will be moved to Sept. 6 due to a scheduling conflict.
CMS officials were notified Tuesday that Sierra Harvest Ministries is hosting "Field of Dreams," a Christian men's event on the same day in Reno. The Faster Pastor race has been rescheduled due to the fact many of the pastors who had signed up for the race, will also attend the seminar in Reno.
The Faster Pastor Charity Challenge event will be a fun-filled event as area clergymen and women will temporarily exchange their collars and vestments for a fire suit and racing helmet. The event will feature a 10-lap "dash for cash" on the 1/3 mile asphalt in Hustlin' Hornet racecars. Besides being a fun-filled event, this race will serve as a fund-raising venture for one lucky church, as the event pays $1,000 to win.
"We have no problem rescheduling our event so the pastors can participate in both functions," said Jeb Onweiler, CMS general manager.
"The pastors will just have to cool their heels for a bit longer. I know they're anxious to go racing and we'll turn them loose on the high-banks come Sept. 6."
Also on tap during the evening will be Western Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Les Schwab Street Stocks, Bandoleros, Hustlin' Hornets, Fast Four Trophy Dash series and the Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving kids bicycle races.
The pits open at 3 p.m., front gates open at 5 and the show starts at 7.
