MINDEN - Two men reportedly caught on videotape engaging in illegal activity at Harveys Resort Casino pleaded not guilty Monday.

The case involves about $400,000 the suspects allegedly conspired to steal between Dec. 31, 2002, and June 1, 2003.

The Douglas County District Attorney's Office charged 27-year-old Carson City resident Jason Lawrence, then an employee of Harveys, with burglary, theft, forgery and conspiracy, and 22-year-old Stephen Johnson of Dayton with burglary, theft and conspiracy.

Lawrence allegedly gave chips illegally to Johnson who would gamble a little and then cash out the remainder.

Deputies arrested the men about 2 a.m. June 1 after authorities videotaped the two men. Shortly after the arrest Lawrence bailed out on $130,000 and Johnson on $125,000.

The two entered their not guilty pleas without additional comments in District Court Judge Michael Gibbon's courtroom.

Their attorneys said their clients waived their rights to a trial within 60 days.
