A woman and two children were taken by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries after a collision at the intersection of Musser and Minnesota streets on Wednesday afternoon.

A white, older Chevrolet pickup with California plates hit the passenger side of a newer, silver Nissan Sentra at about 3:20 p.m., according to witnesses at the scene. Two children in the truck were taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital.

The woman driving the Nissan was also taken. Rescue crews from the Carson City Fire Department supported her neck as they removed her from the car.

None of the three appeared seriously injured, said Operations Chief Dan Shirey.

"At this point, (transporting these three patients) is primarily procedural," he said.

"They're being taken to the hospital for evaluation."

Emily white, who was in the area to pick up her son from preschool, said it's the second accident she's seen there in two weeks.

"(The problem is) speed and people not paying attention," she said. "Everybody's trying to bypass the traffic on 395."
