Joel Franklin "Andy" Anderson, 88, a Carson City resident since 1996, died Nov. 23, 2003, in Reno.

At his request, private burial for family members will be held at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born March 14, 1915, in Waterloo, S.C., to Joel Anderson.

He married Muriel Ruby Strom on Jan. 14, 1938, in Los Angeles. She preceded him in death Aug. 13, 2003. Prior to living in Carson City, he lived in Glenbrook.

Mr. Anderson was a real estate broker at Lake Tahoe. He built the first commercial warehouse center, known as Shady Lane, on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 278 for more than 50 years.

Mr. Anderson was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Carole Terry and son, Joel L. Anderson, both of Carson City; and sisters Nancy Walsh and Harriett Stovall, both of Charlotte, N.C.

Donations may be made in honor of Andy Anderson to St. Mary's Hospice, 520 W. Sixth St., Reno, 89503.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is in charge of arrangements.
