Two people pleaded not guilty Tuesday, while seven others were fined $250 each when they appeared in Carson City Justice Court on citations for serving alcohol to minors during an undercover sting Sept. 29.
A $500 misdemeanor bench warrant was issued for one person who failed to appear for her hearing, according to a Carson City Justice Court clerk.
In addition to the $250 fine, the seven who chose not to fight the charge Tuesday are responsible for a $97 administrative fee. Judges can fine up to $620.
The two who pleaded not guilty will appear Nov. 18 for a pretrial conference.
The citations were issued during the fourth installment of the Carson City Sheriff's Department attempt to crack down on alcohol sales to minors.
The Sept. 29 undercover sting caused a furor among several of those cited because they claimed the decoy, who was months away from her 21st birthday, looked 30.
The Sheriff's Department defended their use of the 20-year-old decoy and vow to continue the operations, which are funded by a grant from the Nevada Juvenile Justice Commission.
