A Carson City mother and her twin sister will be featured on the season premier of ABC's "Extreme Makeover," airing Thursday night.
Caroline Johnson flew to Los Angeles in July to undergo the transformation.
For seven weeks, she was isolated from her sons Tyler, Zach and Cody and her husband, Mark, while she healed from a series of surgeries.
"I wasn't sure what they were going to do when I went in there," she said Tuesday. "The biggest adjustment was my teeth. That changes your whole look."
Because the show doesn't like to give away all the suspense beforehand, the Nevada Appeal will publish an interview with Johnson after it airs.
This is the second season for the program.
"Extreme Makeover" transformations are brought about by a team plastic surgeons, eye surgeons and cosmetic dentists, along with hair and makeup artists, stylists and personal trainers.
Each episode features two people, seen first in their "before" phase, then as they undergo their various procedures and, finally, in a climactic unveiling -- "the after" -- when the candidates reveal their new selves to their families and friends.
Johnson had rhinoplasty, a chin implant, lower-eye lift, tummy tuck, breast implants, liposuction on the thighs and extensive dental work including 12 upper porcelain veneers, aesthetic lip surgery, gum recontouring and two root canals.
Her sister Catherine, who lives in San Jose, had a tummy tuck, breast augmentation and dental work including eight upper veneers, teeth whitening, gum recontouring and orthodontics on her lower teeth.
The program airs at 9 p.m. Thursday on KOLO Channel 8.
